Q: For those that don’t know you, tell us about yourself!
A: Obviously with this French accent of mine, it’s going to be hard to make you believe I am from the Bronx, haha! I am French! I have lived in New York for the past 12 years, and my French accent fiercely remains. (It’s actually getting stronger by the minute.) I am originally from Toulouse in the south of France, and I was born in Algiers, the capital of Algeria.
Like my origin, I have a pretty eclectic background. Believe it or not, I was once a neuroscientist and a marine biologist. I specialized in marine mammals and environmental conservation for the University of St. Andrews. Fast forward a few years later, I became a general manager for bars and music venues in Manchester, England. Manchester is home to The Haçienda club, as well as legendary artists such as Joy Division and Happy Mondays, and it is where I have learned all about epic music, clubbing and British fashion and designers!
A decade later, I decided to follow my passion for fashion styling in New York. I was extremely fortunate to work with many luxury brands including Gucci, Versace, and Lanvin, and for five years I specialized in luxury vintage fashion. I have learned the craft of styling from being on set for photoshoots and fashion shows, as well as doing VIP styling. I have a deep love for fashion and luxury vintage, especially vintage from the late ‘90s and early 2000s.
My favorites designers include: Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Schiaparelli, The Antwerp 6, Vivienne Westwood, Mugler, Montana, Hedi Slimane, Raf Simons, Alessandro Mitchele, Nicolas Ghesquiere, and Gaultier…to name only a few!
Q: How did you first start working for Meg?
A: My first encounter with Meg was at her store in Williamsburg over ten years ago. I fell in love with her brand straight away. Meg became my go-to every time I wanted a new clothing piece or an accessory. My very first Meg piece was a gorgeous sweater, black of course, on which we added pleather sleeves. It was definitely love at first sight, and I was able to make it even more unique thanks to the tailoring.
A few years later, after finishing my contract with Gucci as a VIP and celebrity stylist, I decided to come and work with her. To be honest, I really had to chase her for months to get the job, but it was the best decision I have ever made and I have never looked back. I love being a part of the team and our Meg girls are pretty awesome!
Q: What are your favorite trends this season?
A: Oversized bags are making a comeback, which I am very excited about. I think that this spring there is a focus on basic staple pieces being reimagined, a lot of the pieces I am seeing on the runway have a carefree and leisurely vibe.
I expect a lot of pocket detailing for pants and dresses, which add a great structure to an outfit and offer a great couture touch to any basics. I also love the new luxe sportswear trend this season, such as sweatshirts mixed with classic pants. Think cargo pants and sweatpants with ankle boots and heels. Finally, I can't wait for the return of oversized blazers and jackets.
Q: What are your current favorite Meg pieces?
A: I have quite a few faves this season. The Skinny Dress, the Chloe Pant in Denim, the Jacqueline Pant, and the Sexy Onesie in Black were my favorites from the FW22 collection.
For the upcoming SS23 collection, (spoiler alert) I am a big fan of the Sailor Pants, the new prints we have for our blouses and the deep v-neck oversized dresses that are coming soon and are about to be available for pre-order.
Q: What clothing piece can you not live without?
A: During the winter I am all about my leather jacket, as I am very much still a goth and punk at heart. I also love to curate vintage pieces I find online on eBay, The Real Real, and Vaniitas, as well as in the city at Le Grand Strip, and James Veloria, and mix them with any of my current Meg collection pieces. A vintage accessory, if well curated, will always elevate a look and can be a very unique touch. In the spring and summer months, I live in maxi dresses.
Q: What are your favorite events to style people for?
A: To quote Chanel, “Dress like you are going to meet the love of your life, your ex, or your worst enemy.”
Nothing is more exciting than dressing ladies for life itself. Empowering Meg clients and giving them the confidence to express themselves every day and be radiant in their clothes is an amazing opportunity.
I have worked with many high end retailers and clients, and Meg is the only place where so many clients come back and let us know that they have been stopped in the street. My best days at the store are when beautiful collaborations happen and our clients can own their looks. It definitely takes fashion to another level when charisma takes over style.
Q: What do you offer at the Nolita store?
A: The newest Meg location is a beautiful little store in the heart of downtown Manhattan. I consider it a pampering place where you can fall in love with your next favorite statement piece or wardrobe staple. It is also a place to play dress up, experiment with new looks, and surprise yourself. All pieces are carefully chosen and recommended by our stylists, tailored perfectly to fit your silhouette, personality, and lifestyle.
Every season the team at Nolita offers private appointments with our top stylists to help our clients figure out what they’re missing in their current wardrobe that they may need for the upcoming season. If you’d rather try on clothes in the comfort of your own home, we also offer try on packages. They work in a similar way where you discuss your needs with a stylist, get personalized looks sent to you, and then you can play dress up and only pay for what you fall in love with.
For those clients who love VIP treatment, booking a pre-order appointment in Nolita is the way to go. At the beginning of the season, we offer our clients the opportunity to try on samples from the entire new collection. Clients can pre-order the pieces that are a must-have for them, and also get access to exclusive prints and patterns that may never hit the store racks.
At Nolita, we are always committed to making your experience unique. We love to celebrate special events, like your best friend’s birthday or treating your mom, girlfriend, even yourself! It’s a pleasure to have clients and their people come in for a private appointment in the store, complete with champagne, pastries, and lots of fun finding the best looks for you and yours. Book an appointment online to see what we’re all about!
As your best fashion partners in crime, we look forward to having you.
