The Making of Meg: Thoughtful, Local, and Sustainable

At Meg, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a commitment that shapes everything we do. From design to production, we prioritize ethical manufacturing, responsible sourcing, and timeless style. By working with local factories in New York and Toronto, we ensure that every Meg piece is made with care, quality, and integrity.

Thoughtful Production & Ethical Sourcing

Unlike fast fashion brands that prioritize speed and cost-cutting, we take a slow, intentional approach to production. Each Meg piece is made in small batches to reduce waste and ensure the highest level of craftsmanship. By partnering with independent, family-owned factories in North America, we support fair wages and ethical working conditions while keeping our supply chain transparent.

Meet Our Makers

Raju Fashion – New York, NY

For over 26 years, Raju Datta has been perfecting his craft. Taught to sew by his brother at the age of 13, Raju moved from Bangladesh to New York in 1997 with a dream of owning his own production company. Today, Raju Fashion is known for producing high-quality, small-batch garments at an affordable price, making it a perfect partner for Meg.

Some of our most-loved deadstock pieces, like the Blu’s Gown and Play Jump, were brought to life in Raju’s factory—giving new purpose to fabric that would otherwise go to waste. His team also produces staple Meg pieces, like the Skinny Top and Cowl Top, which blend impeccable tailoring with everyday wearability.

Michael Designs & Fashion – Toronto, Canada

Michael Jahantab grew up surrounded by fashion—learning from his father, a tailor, and spending his childhood pressing seams and fusing garment pieces. Since founding Michael Designs & Fashion in 1997, he has built a reputation for quality craftsmanship and strong relationships, including a long-standing partnership with Meg.

Michael’s team produced some of the standout pieces from our Spring/Summer 2025 collection, including the deadstock Gathered Jumpsuits and T-shirt Dresses. These core wardrobe staples were designed with versatility in mind—easy to style, comfortable to wear, and made to last.

Eco-Friendly Fabrics & Low-Waste Practices

Sustainability goes beyond where we produce—it’s also about how we produce. Our designs favor natural and biodegradable fabrics like organic cotton, linen, and Tencel, all of which have a lower environmental footprint. We also incorporate deadstock materials—unused fabric from other brands that would otherwise go to waste—into our collections, ensuring that nothing goes unused.

Timeless Design for Longevity

The most sustainable wardrobe is one filled with pieces you actually wear. That’s why Meg focuses on timeless silhouettes, versatile styling, and high-quality craftsmanship. Instead of chasing trends, we create pieces that fit seamlessly into your closet for years to come—because sustainability starts with buying better, not more.

Sustainability Beyond the Clothes

Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond the garments themselves. Meg's initiatives like The Archive, where customers can return pre-loved Meg pieces in exchange for 15% off their next find, we encourage a circular approach to fashion.

By choosing Meg, you’re not just investing in well-made, thoughtfully designed pieces—you’re supporting ethical fashion, responsible production, and independent makers like Raju and Michael. Together, we can build a more sustainable future for fashion—one timeless piece at a time.
